CAMPINAS, Brazil – In an ongoing effort to improve the success of Latin American poultry growers by strengthening its support to them, Aviagen® has appointed Emilio Cura as Poultry Nutrition Specialist, effective Sept 2019. Reporting directly to Aviagen’s Head of Global Nutrition Services, Dr. Marcelo Silva, Emilio will work closely with Aviagen’s Global Nutrition Team, contributing to the team’s extensive nutrition research. Doing so will enable him to enhance the poultry operations of Latin American producers with the very latest nutrition and feeding management developments.
“We welcome Emilio to our Global Nutrition Team. His education, background, and familiarity with the region will add great value to the businesses of our Latin American customers”, said Marcelo.
Emilio will be based in Colombia, home of the company’s new production operation. Earlier this year, Peru and Colombia joined Brazil as three strong bases for exporting Ross® 308 AP broiler breeders to customers throughout Latin America.
Value-added experience and education
Emilio comes to Aviagen from Cargill Animal Protein Latin America, where, as Agriculture Manager for Colombia and Senior Poultry Nutritionist for Central America, he led broiler integration and nutrition efforts, interacting with multiple levels of the poultry supply chain. He will benefit Aviagen customers with more than 15 years of experience in the Latin American animal nutrition industry and a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and Master degree in Animal Nutrition at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
“I share the team’s commitment to the success of our valued Latin American customers,” commented Emilio. “I look forward to working daily with our customers to maximize the genetic potential of their Ross birds by continually improving their nutrition, which is essential for raising birds with focus on product quality, welfare, economics and sustainability.”
