CAMPINAS, Brazil – To mark the launch of its newly established operation in Colombia, on Sept. 3, Aviagen® hosted 72 esteemed customers for a lunch conference at the Habitel Hotel in Bogota. The meeting represents the first event since Aviagen Group signed an agreement and purchased the controlling ownership in Avicola Colombiana (Avicol) in July. This agreement established four grandparent (GP) farms, one parent stock (PS) hatchery, one feed mill and 320 dedicated staff to strengthen customer support and security of supply in Colombia – a country with a high demand for quality breeding stock to fulfill an increasing market for poultry.
Positive outlook for Colombia
During conversations led by Aviagen Latin America President Ivan Lauandos, General Manager Gerardo Vesga, and Sales and Technical Services Manager Andrés Parra, the group explored the growth strategy for Colombia, as well as the outlook for the Colombian market.
Ivan kicked off the event by sharing Aviagen’s plan for supplying high-quality breeding stock in the region. “Aviagen is committed to our customers in Colombia, and our expansion into the region is intended to promote their success,” explained Ivan. “During the launch event, we confirmed our mission is to help them feed their communities with a quality source of protein. Extending our reach by having production and distribution bases in multiple South American countries helps ensure that more and more producers can benefit from the unique qualities of the Ross® 308 AP.”
Aviagen was honored to receive a special plaque from Grupo Avicola Los Cambulos and Pollo Fiesta during the event in Bogota, as a warm welcome to Colombia and best wishes for a successful operation.
Commenting on the impressive attendance, Gerardo added that nearly all of the companies producing chicken meat were present. “This high turnout is an example of the dedication of our customers, who are enthusiastically reporting the great results they’re seeing with their Ross birds. This performance is due to their hard work and management skill, combined with the genetic potential and suitability of the Ross 308 AP to their unique needs. Our goal is to continuously improve our service to maintain and even exceed their current success.”
