Experts Sarge Bilgili and Javier Alvarado share effective pre-production and incubation practices with Latin American poultry producers.
CAMPINAS, Brazil – On Nov. 11 and 18, Aviagen® Latin America hosted the final sessions of its second webinar series aimed to strengthen the company's commitment to Arbor Acres® and Ross® poultry customers throughout Latin America, especially in this time of global pandemic.
On Nov. 11, Sarge Bilgili, Emeritus Professor and Acting Director of the Department of Poultry Science at Auburn University, Alabama, U.S., led a discussion on effective pre-production management. The event was attended by 650 producers from throughout Latin America.
"The pre-production period is important, and careful management is key. Vital tasks, including feeding, packing, loading and transportation, must be performed skillfully in less than 24 hours – the time leading up to production,” explained Bilgili.
Closing the webinar series on Nov. 18 and addressing an audience of 550, Veterinarian and Manager of Technical Services Aviagen Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean (CAME) Javier Alvarado, brought to the agenda the topic of skillful incubation management for optimal production performance.
"Optimal management of the egg’s environmental conditions is critical to the health of the developing embryo. Some of the most important points in egg management are collection, disinfection and cooling, and each of these processes must be controlled and measured," Alvarado said.
Successful conclusion of second webinar series
Fabio Carnevale, Aviagen's Marketing Manager in Latin America commented that his company’s second webinar series hosted for Latin American customers, included 7 sessions and welcomed 4,200 participants. "We’re committed to the success of our customers, and developed this series as a way to leverage technology to share with them the latest knowledge and best practices at a time when face-to-face meetings are not possible. We are pleased with the level of engagement, and because of positive and encouraging feedback, plan to return with a new series early next year.”
